Juliette Shackleton creates bespoke functional and decorative ware.
All her products are handmade, individual pieces and mostly thrown on the potter's wheel.
Juliette's designs draw inspiration from nature and the textures shown by rocks and fossils. In addition, her work is inspired by the sea, and the skeletons of creatures that inhabit or once inhabited our oceans.

Vibrant turquoises, blues, lime green and heathers in her work reflect her love of the Isles of Scilly, where she is lucky enough to venture most Summers.

Juliette has a small studio, 'Chalkstone Pottery', in rural Hertfordshire, on the boundary of the chalk. It is set amidst a small copse frequented by black squirrels, woodpeckers, friendly robins and her two rescue cats, Tia and Samson.

'Chalkstone' is an anagram of Shackleton. The logo features Juliette's maker's mark, which combine the letters 'J' and 'S' , surrounded by a coccolithophore silhouette. Coccoliths are the microscopic fossilised creatures which make up the chalk.
